Nature and scope
• The Head Coach is a volunteer role.
• The Head Coach will report to the Senior Women’s Rugby Manager, Team Warwickshire, and coordinate the coaching team.
Responsibilities
• To be responsible for devising session planning and leading the delivery of training sessions as part of the county training programme.
• To assist the Rugby Manager in organising trials, attending trials, training sessions, matches and grading meetings involved with the Senior Squad,
• To support the assistant coaches in the training development of the Senior Squad and hold review meetings.
• To liaise with other County Representative Coaches and RFU Support Staff where appropriate.
• To evaluate all coaching sessions and games with the Coaching Team, Rugby Manager and players.
• To lead in player selection, assessment, evaluation and feedback, utilising the Women’s Management Team.
• To provide feedback to Coaches, Team Management and Players.
• To provide an end-of-season report to the Senior Women’s Team Manager and the Coach Development Lead.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
• The England Rugby Coaching Award or working towards The England Rugby Advanced Coaching Award.
• A high understanding of the WRFU Performance Pathway for Players.
• A current CRB-enhanced certificate.
Skills and Personal Attributes
• Punctuality - As Head Coach, you will set an example for the squad's standards.
• Planning - The Head Coach will be able to work with other Coaches to plan the coaching and individual sessions for players where needed.
• Leadership - Passionate about rugby and grassroots sports development. Motivate, enthuse, and inspire players to ensure that they all reach their potential.
• Fairness and even-handedness when dealing with individuals, making difficult decisions about selection and grades, etc.
Additional Information
• This position will require a significant time commitment, involving evenings and weekends for training, meetings and matches, and travel across the districts.
• The term for this role is two years, subject to an annual review, with a further two years available.
• Teamwork – The Lead Coach needs to work effectively with the Players, Coaches, Rugby Manager, Warwickshire Officials and Officials from other CBs.
• Willingness to commit to being an effective Head Coach and be aware of current CPD available.
